We offer two options to rent equipment to process your chickens. Please contact us either at 937-361-5798 Text/call or https://www.facebook.com/HAPPYWIFEACRES to help decide a date. After reviewing the two options below, you can reserve one by filling out this request form.
1. Plucker Rental – $50. You can rent our plucker for 24 hours and take it to your house to process. You may pick it up the evening before, and bring it back the next day. Our plucker is a StarPluck SP-1 with natural rubber fingers. After proper scalding, it plucks a chicken in about 15 seconds. The plucker comes with a foot pedal to turn it on and off, and a rolling platform for easy movement. The plucker weight 100 lbs, and is approximately 24″ square and 33″ tall. It is best transported by truck or small trailer.
2. Processing Equipment & Barn Rental – $75. You can process your chickens at our farm by renting our processing barn, which includes all major pieces of equipment. You’ll be working indoors and have access to the kill cones, scalder, plucker, processing table with hot water, and drying rack. Per the Ohio Department of Agriculture, we can advise you, but may not assist you during processing. This option is for up to 25 chickens per day. For scheduling purposes, count on about 15 minutes per chicken. Processing should begin no later than 9 am. We advise you bring 4 to 5 adults to process.
